About the Artist

A little bit about KNONK

KNONK is a collective of urban animals making zines, posting paste-ups and having opinions on things. The KNONK collective is the brain child of a Bristol-based artist with a long creative history. They got started in web comics with a terrible gag comic called Goth Boy. One of their first widely read publications was a mini comic called Free Z, distributed as part of a protest against gay conversion therapy in the USA. As part of the small press comics and manga scene in the UK they published several anthology books as well as their own stories under the imprint ITCH. They studied illustration, worked professionally on occasion, and ran drawing and craft workshops for kids and adults as Big Heart Art Club. Currently their focus is making zines and paste-ups with positive and political messages. The imaginary collective KNONK is an attempt to bring all these different eras together under a single digital roof, and share their art on their own terms without relying on social media and other ensh*ttified platforms. Like life itself, it's a work in progress.
